RTE connects first wind farm off the coast of Normandy to the French power network

RTE is currently connecting the first offshore wind farm off the coasts of Normandy (Northern France) to the mainland, through the construction of double 18km submarine and 32km underground cables between the seashore city of Fécamp and Le Havre region. At this stage, the first cable is ready to enable the flow of electricity from the power generator.

This connection project amounts to a 26million€ investment with 57 local businesses working for almost three years. It constitutes a clear progress in the contribution of wind farms to France’s 2050 carbon-neutrality targets, with 4GW of offshore wind energy scheduled to come from Normandy.
