Gulf power grid operator and GO15 member GCCIA has just launched a new electric interconnection project with Iraq, aiming at fostering economic growth and cooperation across the region through new and better shared power capacities.
This new connection amounts to a 1,000 km network, transferring 500 megawatts of electricity between Gulf countries and Iraq, and is thought of as the first step towards a wider Arab electrical linkage across the region.
