A record 117GW of wind power capacity has been installed globally in 2023 according to the Global Wind Report 2024 by the Global Wind Energy Council, a 50% increase from 2022. Onshore wind represented 106 GW in 2023, versus 10.8 GW for offshore projects.
The GWEC estimates 1210GW of new capacity will be installed during the 2024-2030 period thanks to favorable industrial policies in major economies, a growing momentum for offshore wind and promising growth among emerging markets and developing economies.
