Marcio Rea highlights ONS role in Brazilian energy transition at COP30

ONS CEO and upcoming 2026 GO15 Vice President Marcio Rea actively participated in debates at COP30which took place last November in Belém, Brazil. Invited by Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Marcio Rea joined global energy leaders in the forum “Accelerating Action on Networks and Storage: Planning, Financing, Principles and Policy Solutions”. He also took part in the panel “Emissions Reduction and Ecological Protection”, promoted by State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) in the China Pavilion. In addition to Marcio Rea, the Director of Operations at ONS, Christiano Vieira da Silva, also attended COP30.

According to Marcio Rea, “Brazil has one of the cleanest electricity matrices in the world, and the ONS faces the challenge of maintaining a safe, resilient, and sustainable operation, reconciling economic growth, energy security, and climate responsibility. Today, more than 90% of our energy comes from clean and renewable sources. And we are very proud of this predominantly renewable composition. The Operator has been working to enable and channel this amount, always with responsibility, innovation, and quality.”
