GO15 member MISO has released its 2026 Reliability Imperative Report, which outlines how MISO is poised to deal with a historic surge in electricity demand across its footprint. Driven by electrification, data center expansion, and industrial growth, MISO’s risk landscape is rapidly evolving, and the grid operator continues to work with it members to ensure a reliable system for 45 million Americans.
New actions taken include:
- Collaborative planning with members and states to accelerate resource development and coordinate large-load integration.
- Queue reforms and the launch of the Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS) process to reduce study timelines and fast-track critical projects.
- Transmission planning in the Midwest and South, alongside operational improvements such as dynamic reserve requirements and updated resource accreditation.
