GO15 member MISO and the Organization of MISO States (OMS) have released their 2025 survey results, indicating the MISO region in the US could see resource sufficiency ranging from a 1.4 GW deficit to 6.4 GW surplus of Summer Accredited Capacity by the 2027/28 planning year, depending on the pace of resource additions. MISO improved its ability to price the value of accredited capacity through adoption of a Reliability-Based Demand Curve this year.
The 2025 survey’s key findings indicate recent and upcoming resource adequacy reforms – including a shift to a seasonal construct and the Reliability-Based Demand Curve, plus upcoming accreditation improvements – will enhance MISO’s and its utilities’ ability to assess operational risks tied to a shifting resource mix and large load additions.
