Executive Summary
The topic ‘Forecasts’ has already been carried out in the last years by GO15. In 2022, the focus was mainly on the interaction of DSO/TSO forecasts. In this respect, a questionnaire was launched and four GO15 members answered (CAISO, POSOCO, KPX and CSG).
Regarding the forecasting, for renewable the time granularity is varying from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. The lead time is varying from 1 hour to 72 hours. The accuracy is similar, 7% in average. For load, the time granularity is 15 minutes, similar for all. The lead time is varying from 15 minutes to several hours (up to 72 hours).
Regarding the interaction of DSO/TSO, in most of the cases, DSO side does not make forecasts, but monitor renewable and load. The forecasts are performed at TSO side and communicated to DSO.
The survey highlighted the challenges that the members are still facing related to DSO and TSO forecasts. Within those challenges members have really faced the moment by implementing some great advancements.
