The IRENA Assembly discussed major energy issues on 15-16 January during its 12th session

The Twelfth Session of the International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) Assembly took place in a virtual setting on the 15th and 16th of January in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

This first 2022 high-level meeting of the global energy and environment community brought together 1,100 delegates from 137 countries including Heads of State, Ministers, Heads of International Organisations and CEOs, under the theme “Energy Transition: From Commitment to Action”, reflecting the growing need to translate bold ambition into concrete steps that accelerate the shift to a cleaner, fairer and more resilient energy system.

To achieve energy transition, participants discussed a variety of issues and highlighted the importance of power grid operators in building more resilient, reliable and flexible energy systems, at the ready to integrate a tripled renewable energy capacity by 2030.
