MISO have shared their insights and work on long range transmission planning over the last few years during two webinars with GO15 members. As decarbonization and climate challenges arise, MISO has identified three possible future scenarios for its broad footprint and launched a series of four initiatives to ensure continued electric system reliability:
- Market redefinition
- System enhancement
- Transmission evolutions
- Operations of the Future
MISO’s long range transmission planning issues are currently being managed in four tranches and are focused on identifying solutions for the footprint’s Midwest region while preparing for better ties with the South region.
