The world’s first large-scale gravitational accumulator has been built in China

Switzerland and California-based company Energy Vaults has announced the completion and upcoming commissioning of the world’s first commercial gravitational energy storage in Jiangsu province, near Shanghai (China).

This technological and commercial first converts electrical energy into kinetic energy when concrete blocks are raised to a height and releases it again when the blocks are lowered to the ground. The power generated by this tower reaches 25MW, with a full capacity of 100MW.
