ENTSO-E released a report and position paper on the important technical topic of flexibility from Renewable Energy Sources (RES), particularly during periods of high generation and low demand.
Core recommendations for system integration include:
- Deployment of smart, granular metering systems to monitor RES assets.
- Unified control interfaces and data exchange between operators, Balance Responsible Parties, and system operators.
- Financial and regulatory frameworks to reward dynamic RES generation adjustments and participation in balancing/system services.
ENTSO-E urges collaboration with the EU Commission, regulators, and stakeholders to embed RES flexibility as a cornerstone of Europe’s decarbonized electricity system.
