Following a highly instructive introduction to the concept of inertia, the presentation detailed how the rise of inverter-based resources is redefining frequency stability and inertia management, drawing on the example of Brazil. Secure integration requires evolving operational frameworks, improved estimation of inertia, specifications for grid-forming capabilities and fast frequency response, as well as guaranteed dynamic performance for both synchronous and inverter-based equipment.
The numerous questions from the audience underscored the global importance of inertia management for the effective integration of renewable energy, while maintaining the stability of the power system.
